The DIVA Foundation’s vision is to be known as an organization that is a strong educator in credible, leading edge information and one that supports advances and rewards excellence in women’s health and well-being.

Mission Statement

The DIVA Foundation is a national organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of women through the promotion of educational programs, as well as rewarding exceptional individuals and organizations that have shown excellence in the advancement of the quality of life of Canadian women. The DIVA Awards Program and our educational programs are supported by donors and sponsors who believe in Healthy Women... Healthy World.

To the Board of Directors of the DIVA Foundation,

Thirteen years ago, the Founders of the DIVA Foundation observed the creation of world-oriented movements and organizations such as Band Aid for Africa, Farm Aid for America’s family farmers, Habitat for Humanity, the removal/destruction of land mines, Doctors Without Borders, cure for AIDS, pink-ribbon marathons to fight cancer, etc. The Founders believed that a vacuum existed for a world movement focused on the health and well-being of women. The bottom line for the Founders: healthier women lead to healthier families, healthier communities, and a healthier world.

The dream of the seven Founders was to revolutionalize the way women’s health issues are perceived, promoted, and funded; especially funded. The intent was to create a world renowned organization and trust fund, similar to the Nobel Foundation, which would be devoted to recognizing, celebrating, and rewarding achievements that contribute to improving the health and well-being of all women.

As I leave the Board of Directors of the DIVA Foundation as the last serving Founder, I believe that the raison d’être for the DIVA Foundation remains relevant, reasonable, and vital to the future health and well-being of women. I entrust to the Board the responsibility to pursue the dream.
